It really is worth the money!

I purchased this flat iron because I'm tired of spending money to get my hair done at the salon on a regular basis. I was sketpical of buying it, but figured if it didn't work I could return it. I am African-American and I have very thick, curly, long, relaxed hair. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. My hair came out great! It was thicker and a little less straight than if my stylist did it, but MUCH MUCH better than when I'd done it in the past. It won't replace my stylist unfortunately, but it will make my visits less frequent!

If you have ethnic hair this will definitely work for you. I think the only reason I'm not speaking more praises of the flat iron is because my hair is honestly some of the thickest and hardest to manage that you'll ever see. Even people at the salon say so! So, I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied!

Its Grrrreeeaaatttt!!

I bought this iron maybe a year ago at an Ulta store and I have to say, I was impressed. I wanted a flat iron that would actually straighten my hair. I am Black and my hair (not that thick, shoulder length) gets out of control when it's time for a perm. I use this flat iron to postpone getting a relaxer and after i have gotten a relaxer to make the ends straight. I had heard questionable things about it, but my personal experience has been:

*I have been through many flat irons and this one seems to get the job done right. Straightens and shines (I use the John Freida thermal protectant)

*The only problem I have is that if its too hot or I am moving too slowly, the iron will sometimes singe the ends of my hair (not good!!)

*No electrical problems. To this day, it is still working properly and it has been dropped many times.

*Easy cleaning. Just remove the plates and wipe clean. No gross gunky stuff

*Gives my hair BODY. Something I did not experience with other irons.

Better Than Chi!

I bought a Sedu straightening iron 5 years ago, and only had to replace it a month ago when my boyfriend dropped it and it broke at the hinge. I decided to try the Chi just for kicks, and after owning it for 1 week it has completely stopped working. There was no temperature setting on the model I bought, and although results were similar, I would have to say the Sedu performed better. I have read that many customers have had trouble getting their straighteners replaced by Farouk (makers of Chi) so why not go with a product that I can testify has worked perfectly for 5 years?

LOVE IT!

I bought this straightener (the 1 inch) after my CHI turbo broke on me after 5 months. The sedu works just as well on my hair as the chi did, and it feels a lot smoother on my hair than the CHI. My first Sedu broke on me after 5 months as well, but I had saved my receipt this time and had a free 1 year warranty from the website I bought it at. I had to pay shipping to send the broken one in and I believe a 10 dollar check. That's the only reason i put 4 stars instead of 5. But they sent me a new one and I have had it for almost a year with no problems! I don't see why you would need to touch the outside of the plates. I use one hand to hold the piece of hair and the other on the handle of the sedu. Oh and i forgot..it is super light weight! did i mention that i love this product?? =)

Heats super fast--straightens in no time!

I noticed a friend's hair looking particularly healthy and lush--I asked her what shampoo/styling products she used and she shared her new obsession with me: Sedu flat iron.

Works well ... does what it says

This product straightens my long curly hair quickly and well. Folica delivered quickly. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price... but hey it works and my hair comes out nicely and stays relatively straight for about a week.

Good quality of this the iron is light weight so easy to handle,I can't say it is greater than a good ceramic flat iron ,overall good. "Folica" shipped it fast but never respond to mails- very bad. I am happy because I got it through "Amazon".

Good product..
Number one, the reviews should be for the product itself not the company you purchased it from. Many of the lower ratings come from poor purchase experience. I've spent maybe 1000 dollars on hair straighteners... I have long (fanny length) and thick (it doesnt even fit in one fist) hair. I've used this straightener and it works fabulously. Just purchase it through Amazon and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Well Worth the Money
I have tried many of the cheaper flat irons, only to be disappointed because they didn't heat up quickly enough, they left my hair frizzy or they just quit working altogether. I finally decided that I needed to invest more money into a flat iron if I wanted to get a quality product. After reading countless reviews, I decided on the Sedu. It has been worth every penny. I can finally get the soft, straight hair at home that before I could only get when I went to the salon. The Sedu is easy to use, has an adjustable temperature dial and heats up FAST! I highly recommend this product, but make sure (as with any flat iron) to use a heat protectant.

First, I want to say to those who read this ..

I AM 100%, PURE, UNTOUCH, GRADE A, PUREBREED, CERTIFIED, PANTENT-PENDED PROUD BLACK!!! ( I know this because I have a stamp on my butt .. HA!!)

I am going to be honest .. I have the nappiest hair on the planet, and can't nobody tell me otherwise.

I went natural about a year ago. I tried everything to starighten my hair, even the old fashion "hot comb on the stove" routine. It got straight, but I got burned really bad, not to mention burning out my hair.

I bought this flat iron, but didn't use it. I put it in the drawer and forgot about it. My bestfriend came over with her daughter and tell me that she was going to get her hair flat iron at some girls house for $25. That's when I remember I had it. I told her to try this first.

As she was doing her hair, I just stood there with my mouth wide open! It looked like silk (no joke). Renee (bestfriend) started aguing with me. telling me that I never used it, so she should be able to take it. NOT!!!

I used it on my all natural hair, and was so happy!!

I went over to my mothers house and she was mad. She said I went a whole year trying to grow my relaxer out, just to get a new relaxer. When I told her about my Sedu, She couldn't believe it.

Sedu has Topped the Charts
I have been doing hair since 1980's and i've had numerous hair straightening irons through the years and i have to say i have been able to straighten more hair textures without the frizzy afterlook and not waste a lot of time falling behind.... one swipe down the hair shaft and it's perfect.... all i can say is to all the other hair straighteners out there "eat your heart out" SEDU has topped the charts.... to this day every person looking for a hair iron i recommend Sedu.

returning the sedu flat iron ASAP!
Let me start off by saying that I own a very well established salon so using a flat iron is second nature to me. I've used them all, literally, from Hot Tools to T3 and everything in between, just because I have a never ending curiousity for the best.

Well, after reading alot of reviews, I decided to purchase the sedu. I found alot of good and bad reviews, mostly good, some bad. To my disappointment, I got the flat iron and found it to be nothing special. Everyone claims it was a miracle worker but in truth, I don't think it did anything different than the chi or t3, and I felt it was MUCH lesser quality than both. Can someone tell me what they think is so unique about this flat iron and why people are acting like it's the greatest invention ever?

Here are some points which I didn't like:
1. The exterior is really hot. Don't even try touching it at all unless third degree burns sounds like fun to you. As a stylist, the sedu flat iron is no use to me whatsoever. I need to be able to hold the plates to distribute even heat. The ceramic is extremely thin (probably to make it lighter weight) but they sacrificed quality on it. No matter how thin it is, if you can't hold it, what use is it?
2. The plates have no springs in them!! Springs under the plates gives it the cushion to "slide" through hair. It's obviously a feature sedu didn't want to spend money on and it really damaged my hair and started to break it because of the friction it created.
3. The sedu is not worth the price. I would pay no more than $50 for this.
4. Again, nothing stands out about this flat iron. It's like any other low end flat iron - conair, hot tools, etc.
5. The sedu flat iron copied t3's tourmaline technology. Who wants something that was copied by another company (and made of lesser quality?)

In conclusion, I'm sticking with the T3 Tourmaline Flat Iron and returning the sedu flat iron as soon as I finish writing this review.

Great but gets really hot.

I was really excited when I got this from [...]. It does get hot fast but like the other review, it gets really hot on the exterior. I have the corioliss also and it doesn't get hot on the outside. I'm used to gripping down the iron as I straighten my hair but with this I couldn't because the outside was so hot. But other than that it's really light and works well.
